Cleaning the Printhead
If printer quality declines (symptoms include non-compliant bar codes, print dropouts and streaks), the typical cause is debris build up on the printhead. When the buildup is not removed, it can may lead to reduced service life and printhead failure. Streaks in printed labels usually indicate a dirty or faulty print head.
Standard Models. Clean the printhead using a cleaning card:
Linerless Models. Honeywell cleaning pens are used on linerless-model printers or any printer with adhesive buildup. They are used to clean components that are exposed directly to adhesive.
Step 1. Rub this pen along the stick component to break down the adhesive build up.
Step 2. Rub this pen along the component to remove the buildup.
The cap pen has a plastic scraper that can be used to remove large amounts of adhesive buildup. Do not use on the platen roller or sensors.
Warnings/Precautions. Honeywell provides the following warning and precautions when cleaning Honeywell non-healthcare devices.
Honeywell Engineering has performed testing to show that various disinfectants should not harm the printer when used properly. Check your user manual for list of approved cleaners. We advise customers to consult the disinfectant solution’s manufacturer labeling for specific information regarding its efficacy against specific infectious pathogens.
Honeywell supports the CDC guidance to use 70% isopropyl alcohol solution or wipe to disinfect surfaces. Gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Honeywell product. Don’t use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don’t submerge your Honeywell product in any cleaning agents. Don’t use on fabric or leather surfaces.
The use of the 70% isopropyl alcohol solution is approved for short-term use to address current health care concerns and should not expect any significant impact to material.
We encourage you to consult your Honeywell product user guide for your specific cleaning directions.
