Description

Elo Pay 15″ ‘Tap to Pay’ โ€” Android POS Terminal with Built-In Contactless

The Elo Pay 15″ puts the payment reader inside the terminal. There’s no separate pin pad on the counter, no cable running to a card machine, and no second device for staff or customers to find. A 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen handles the interaction; a front-facing NFC antenna handles the payment.

One device instead of three

A conventional counter setup means a terminal, a customer-facing display and a payment reader, each with its own power, its own cabling and its own failure mode. Consolidating them removes the cable runs, frees counter space, and gives the customer a single surface to look at and touch. For self-service deployments it also removes the most common source of confusion โ€” a customer who has completed an order on one screen and then has to work out where to pay.

The integrated NFC antenna is SoftPOS compatible and sits behind a rear-lit contactless logo that can be programmed to illuminate when the terminal is ready to take a tap. Small detail, but it’s the thing that tells a customer the transaction has reached the payment step without anyone having to say so.

Built for self-service, not adapted for it

With VESA 75mm and 100mm mounting built in, the same terminal works as a countertop unit, a pole-mounted checkout, a wall-mounted check-in point or a floor-standing kiosk depending on the stand you pair it with. That matters when a single hardware SKU has to cover self-checkout in one site, self-order in another and ticketing or customer check-in in a third โ€” you’re specifying stands, not devices.

Four Elo Edge Connect ports along the display edge take peripherals directly: 2D barcode scanners, magnetic stripe readers, fingerprint scanners, RFID modules, status lights, webcams and speaker bars. Each attaches to the terminal itself rather than sitting separately on the counter, so a self-checkout station stays a single assembled unit.

Commercial-grade Android, managed centrally

The terminal runs Android 14 with Google Mobile Services on a Qualcomm Snapdragon QCS6490 octa-core processor, with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The chipset includes an AI accelerator rated at up to 12 TOPS, which is relevant if your roadmap includes on-device vision work โ€” loss-prevention checks, produce recognition, or age estimation at a self-checkout.

Device management runs through EloView, covering remote deployment, content updates and configuration across an estate from one console. Provisioning works out of the box through EloView or Google Zero Touch, and Elo’s OEMConfig support exposes device APIs to third-party Android MDM platforms if you’re already standardised on one. Security updates are delivered on a subscription basis through OS 360, which also covers planned upgrades to later Android releases.

Connectivity and I/O

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.2 handle wireless, with Gigabit Ethernet on RJ45 for fixed installations and Power over Ethernet available through an optional module. Wired I/O covers USB-A 3.0, USB-C, microSD and GPIO โ€” the GPIO being the one that matters if you’re driving gates, lights or dispensers from a kiosk. An 8MP autofocus camera and two digital microphones are built in, alongside two 1.5W speakers.
