Description

Opticon SE-290 โ€” 2.9″ Shelf Labels for Produce and Fresh Categories

No category reprices like fresh. Yield varies, deliveries land daily, quality degrades on a clock, and the markdown window is the difference between margin and waste. The SE-290 is a 2.9-inch e-paper shelf label built for that pace โ€” prices change centrally and appear on the aisle within seconds, not whenever someone reaches that gondola with a pricing gun.

Markdowns that land when they’re authorised

The gap between a reduction being approved and appearing on the shelf is dead time, and in fresh it’s expensive dead time. Pushing from the Opticon ESL Web Server Software closes it: the decision and the shelf edge happen together. Schedule reductions to step down through the day, apply them across a whole category at once, and have them expire automatically at close. Nothing to print, nothing to peel off the next morning.

Enough label for what fresh actually needs

Fresh pricing carries more than a number. The fully graphical 296 x 128 pixel display at 112 dpi holds product name, price, price per kilogram, origin, class or grade, and a scannable 1D or 2D barcode on a single 66.9 x 29.1 mm face. Templates are fully customisable, so the layout matches your existing shelf-edge conventions rather than forcing a change that confuses customers mid-shop.

Red and yellow doing real work

The SE-290R displays black, white and red. The SE-290RY adds yellow. In fresh that second colour is worth having: red for a reduction, yellow for a multibuy or a promoted line, black for standard pricing. A customer walking the aisle parses three distinct signals instead of one. It also stops the reduction from losing its meaning โ€” when every ticket is red, none of them reads as a markdown.

Find the line that needs attention

Each label carries an RGB locator LED with adjustable brightness and duty cycle. Use it to flag lines due for rotation, highlight stock approaching its date for a reduction sweep, or guide a picker filling an online order to the right facing. Brightness dials down so the aisle doesn’t glow during trading.

Dense aisles, long service life

One base station supports up to 1,500 SE-290 displays across a typical 25-metre indoor range โ€” enough for a full fresh department on one device. E-paper is bistable, drawing power only when the image changes and retaining the image without power at all, so two CR2450 lithium primaries last approximately five years at five updates per day. Fresh runs hotter than five updates a day on many lines, so expect a shorter real-world cycle than the headline figure; it’s worth modelling against your actual markdown frequency.
